Desperate

“O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is. So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My whole being shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips when I remember You upon my bed and meditate on You in the night watches. For You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice. My whole being follows hard after You and clings closely to You; Your right hand upholds me.” (Psalm 63:1-8)

Desperate: Reckless or dangerous because of urgency, having an urgent need, or desire; very serious or dangerously in need.I know our Father desires for us to dwell and rest in peace while having a sense of urgency for the hour in which we live. Let’s call this the tension of desperation. We stand in a place where help will come, while living in a place where help is needed. May we be hard after the One who is help! May we see the desperate need for Father to come, and may we cry out for Him to visit us in our need. Let our cries go out continually, “O God, we need your mercy!” May our desperation connect us with His presence, His kindness, His mercy, and His desire to help us!“Lord God, my whole being follows hard after You, and clings closely to You; Your right hand upholds me. Make my heart thirst for You more and more each day. Cause me to look upon You in every moment, praising You and blessing You with my motives, words, and actions. Help me to meditate on Your Word in the morning and in the evening. Keep me in the shadow of Your wings. I am desperate for You, Lord Jesus. Come, please come.”
