Light in Dark Places

Psalm 18:28-30 For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.  For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall.  As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Luke 8:16,17 No one lights a lamp and covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it on a lampstand, so those who enter can see the light.  For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing concealed that will not be known and illuminated.

Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

My grandson went through a time where he was fearful and especially did not want to be in darkness.  One of the things I showed him during this time was that light always shines into the darkness.  Standing together outside of our home in the early evening it was easy to see how the lights on inside of the house shown outward, and not the reverse.  Light always defeats darkness, and so it is as we pray!

Father has made us the light to the world.  Now is the time to shine brightly.  There are things taking place in darkness that need to be exposed to the light. We are the light everywhere we go and we shine that light out into the darkness as we pray.  We do not fear. It is time to stand courageously.  We pray on behalf of our families, our friends and our country that darkness would be exposed to the light.  We pray that those who desire to do harm to our nation both from within and without would be exposed to the light. We declare the shining forth of bright light over all evil.  We pray for discernment to see what the light is exposing for what it is-darkness that needs to be defeated.
