“Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.'” (Matthew 26:13)
“And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, ‘Why this waste? For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor.'”But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, ‘Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.'” (Matthew 26:6-13)There is a part of our prayer life that is rarely discussed. We have our lists, we see the condition of the world, and we bring our concerns to the Father, but there is a place of heart-to-heart love that the Lord longs to bring us. The concerns are set aside for a few moments and our hearts are fully open to Him and we know He is fully open to us. Like Mary of Bethany, we come to love the Lord; we pour out the flask of our fragrant oil on the One who totally surrendered Himself on our behalf. We worship Him because He is totally worthy of our worship.In this place, we will experience what David saw in Psalm 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Every other thing, all the cares, all the concerns will melt away in His presence and our hearts will enter into fullness of joy. The bond of love that no circumstance can destroy will be strengthened. We will know that nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus!
