In the early 1900’s, American academia and political activists advanced eugenics. Their agenda, weed out undesirable or defective human beings.
A government bureaucrat deemed sixteen year old Carrie Buck “a low grade moran.” The official said she came from a “worthless class”. Yes, the bureaucrat used those words. When the case reached the Supreme Court, Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. upheld the government sterilizing Carrie. According to Justice Holmes, “Three generations of imbeciles are enough…” Yes, he said that.
Likewise, the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger promoted eugenics. Sanger desired, to use her words, “more children from the fit and less from the unfit.” For her, this meant more white babies and less babies of color. “Human weeds to be extirpated.” Yes. she said that.
Similarly, American academia advanced the eugenics agenda under the guise of science. Approximately four hundred universities taught courses on eugenics to their students.
The Bible teaches: Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,... Rom 1:22
Perhaps we ought to pause, therefore, as today’s academic institutions support doctors aborting unborn children. Planned Parenthood still places its abortion facilities in the midst of communities where people of color live. Is it not surprising therefore, that the number one cause of death of African-American babies is Abortion. Who will speak for those who cannot speak themselves? Who will shine light on this darkness?
Instead of celebrating doctor’s taking life, let us instead celebrate how each child is wonderfully made in the image of God. Let us see how every child holds inherent sacred value. And let us celebrate that God creates every life with purpose.
