Because God created human life in His image, all human life holds inherent dignity that everyone, including government authorities, must respect. This First Principle historically informed many government actions improving society, including: laws ending of slavery and the slave trade; laws providing for the equal treatment under the law; laws prohibiting murder, abortion, partial birth abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, etc.
