UPDATE: Analysis of Revised MDE Health Standards

Analysis by

Katherine Bussard

Ex. Director & COO

Less than 72 hours before the vote, the MDE published “revised” proposed health standards, which still fall short of the plain language of Michigan law and require teaching many issues that counter the parental values and sincerely held religious beliefs.

Leading concerns with the latest draft include:

  • Less than 72 hours before the vote, the MDE published “revised” standards – now 74 pages long
  • The new standards still teach the wrong stuff–pushing radical sexual ideology on our children at the expense of real education
  • They pay “lip service” to parental rights while working overtime to damage the relationship between children and their parents, putting government schools in the place of parents
  • They erode local control–specifying not just content, but how teachers should teach
  • They usurp legislative authority by ignoring some legislative limits and reinventing what content belongs in sex ed–replacing science with social engineering

The following resource is a brief synopsis of the new, 74 page document that is expected to come for a final vote on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
