Do you hear the cries in Dapchi….

There is a widely-published story of a small church in Germany during the Holocaust. During Sunday services, trains destined for concentration camps passed by the church.  Although troubled by the cries they heard, the congregation felt helpless – so they sang their hymns a little louder, until they could no longer hear the screams.

Terror in a School – and the American Media’s Response

In the northern Nigerian town of Dapchi, Boko Haram Islamic Jihadists stormed into a school, herding little girls into trucks. Witnesses indicate the Jihadists specifically targeted the school that provides education to girls as young as eleven years old. Can you hear their cries?

Though Jihadists brutally terrorized and kidnapped over 100 girls, we see very little coverage of the horrific story in the American media.  Even when covered, some media underreported the number confirmed missing.   If you are a member of the American press reading this, do you hear their cries.  Or will your other stories drown out their screams?

The Terrorists and their Purpose

These kidnappings, along with others, are part of Boki Haram’s Jihadist efforts to establish an caliphate. That is, to be clear here, to forcibly establish a despotic theocracy in northern Nigeria – and to do so through fear and violence. Like the weekly trains passing the little church in Germany, the latest evil is part of a repeated pattern involving thousands of terrorism victims. The victims include another 276 school girls abducted in 2014 from Chibok, another town in the region. Where terrorists employ this kind of terrorism, their purpose is to eradicate from a country those who disagree.

A Call to Shine Light in the Darkness

Do you hear the cries of the little girls? Do you feel the heartache of their families? Stand courageously for truth against the terrorist, and the terrorist’s influence diminishes.  Shine the light of Truth on a tyrant and the tyrant loses legitimacy. Salt & Light Global calls on the American press to shine light on this darkness. Help bring these children home.

But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible  Eph 5:13 (ESV)
